Biography

James A. Fillmore was born in 1852. He was the son of John Fillmore and Charlotte Sears. Although his parents were born in New Brunswick, Charles was born in the United States (possibly Lubec, Maine, where his parents were living in 1850). By 1855, the family had moved back to Westmorland Parish, Westmorland, New Brunswick, where James grew up. In 1871, he was living with his grandparents, next door to his parents, and was working as a farm labourer.
