Biography

This person is an ancestor of President Millard Fillmore.[1]

Nathaniel Fillmore b. March 20, 1739 and was baptized March 23, 1739-40 He married on Oct 20, 1767 Hepzibah Wood wo was born April 14, 1747.[2]

He settled early in Bennington, Vermont, then called the Hampshire Grant where he resided until his death in 1814

He served in the French War and on being wounded and left in the woods subsisted for nearly a wee on a few kernels of corn and upon his shoes and a part of his blanket which it is daid he roasted and ate. He finally was discovered and assisted by his party. He also served in the Revolutionary War and distinguished himself as a Lieutenant under Star in the battle of Bennington.[2] p. 21

Nathaniel Fillmore Sr. was born on 20 Mar 1739/40 in Norwich, New London, Connecticut. He was the son of John Fillmore and Dorcas Day.[3]

Marriage

Nathaniel Fillmore Sr. married Hephzibah Wood on 28 Oct 1767 in Bennington, Vermont.[4] She was the daughter of Ebenezer Wood and Philippa Story.[5]
