He settled early in Bennington, Vermont, then called the Hampshire Grant where he resided until his death in 1814
He served in the French War and on being wounded and left in the woods subsisted for nearly a wee on a few kernels of corn and upon his shoes and a part of his blanket which it is daid he roasted and ate. He finally was discovered and assisted by his party. He also served in the Revolutionary War and distinguished himself as a Lieutenant under Star in the battle of Bennington. p. 21
