Biography

Brita and her husband seem to have lived apart in the latter half of the 1890s, and their children living with other families for a time. By 1900, the family was living together in Äng. In 1901, Brita was widowed. She passed away from tuberculosis 5 years later, at age 36.

Research Notes

Brita's birth records list her as the daughter of smith Filén and Elin Jonsdotter but her mother's husband Nils Filén had passed away 13 months before, so he was not Brita's father. Brita's patronymicon indicates that her father's name was Erik.
