Biography

Robert Finch, elder son of Robert Finch and Mary Franklyn, was born at Dollis Hill in 1829. He was christened at St. Mary's Willesden on 11th February 1829. ^[1] In 1841 he and his brother, Henry, were in the household of a Henry Cole, clergyman and schoolmaster. ^[2] He continued his education at Winchester School and Trinity College Cambridge. ^[3] He inherited Dollys Hill on the death of his father in 1832, which is where he was in 1851. ^[4]
He married Elizabeth Ann Miles, daughter of jonathan and Anna Miles of Frogmore House at Farnborough in late 1851 ^[5] In 1861 he was Rector of Pangbourne and he and Elizabeth have four sons and two daughters^[6] and by 1871 they two more sons and four daughters. ^[7] He remained as Rector of Pangbourne from 1857 to 1896.^{[8] [9]} During this time he sold Dolleys Hill to Lord Tweedsmouth. He moved to Finkley House Andover with his daughter Ada and four servants. ^[10] He died at Finkley House, in 1910 ^[11] and was buried in the Family Vault at St. Mary's Willesden, and there is a memorial in Pangbourne church and a Memorial stone in the churchyard.
