Henry, second son of Robert Finch and Mary Franklyn was born at Dollis Hill. and christened at St Mary's, Willesden on 9th September 1831. [1] In 1841 he and his brother Robert were in the household of Henry Cole, clergyman and schoolmaster at Islington. [2] In 1851 he was staying with his uncle Richard Franklyn at the Royal Mint [3] and in 1861 he was at Dolley's
Hill with his widowed mother and two sisters, a student at Middle Temple, studying Law. [4] He became a successful Barrister-at-Law and he was one of the last Moneyers at the Royal Mint He married Catherine Scott, daughter of William Scott of Kensal Manor House, a merchant, in 1869 at St. Mary's Willesden [5] and they had four sons and three daughters. In 1871 they were living at Bennington Lodge, Hertfordshire [6] Catherine died in 1879 and he married Sarah Lane Browne, daughter of Lieut-Col. Browne of Breaghwy, Co. Mayo at St. Saviour's Church, Paddington in 1881 [7] and they were living in Belsize Avenue, Hampstead [8] In 1891 he is at Ashurst Wood House in Sussex, and is retired[9] Many family members visited
him while he was living here according to family correspondence. in 1901 he is at Godstone House, Godstone [10] and in 1911 He was at Broadwater Down, Tunbridge Wells [11]
He died in 1913 at Tunbridge Wells [12] and was buried in the Family Vault at St Mary's, Willesden. [13]
