Biography
Julia Tappan Finch was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1862, a daughter of Henry Martyn Finch and Emily Swift (Chapman) Finch; she married architect Cass Gilbert in Milwaukee in the late fall of 1887. She died in Ridgefield, Connecticut, in 1952.

DAR Lineage Book shows her to be a granddaughter of Elijah Chapman & Emily Swift; great granddaughter of Elijah Chapman & Sarah Keeler; great-great granddaughter of Capt. Elijah Chapman & Ruth Steele.
