Biography

I was born in 1977 in Burlington, Ontario, Canada but was raised in the neighbouring city of Hamilton. In 2000, I graduated from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and have worked in sales and marketing ever since. I have also served as the Dominion Chairman of the Monarchist League of Canada since 2007.

My ancestors come from present-day Ontario, Nova Scotia, USA, England, Scotland, Germany, Netherlands, and Belgium.

My main family tree is done using RootsMagic. I also have a blog where I share stories and research.

Outside of genealogy, my other interests include Canadian football, the Titanic, history & geography, and 80s wrestling.

Today, I live with my wife and daughter on a farm in Haldimand County, Ontario.
Robert Finch is a descendant of Mayflower Passenger Stephen Hopkins.

Hi Robert! thanks for your work on https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Mills-18927

One small comment. Be careful when you're editing, not to move inline citations (things that are surrounded by the <ref></ref> tags). They look a bit messy in the edit view, but they're a lot more functional in profile view, and they're the WikiTree preferred style. They're not required, and it takes a bit of work to learn to use them. But when they're there already and used correctly, you should definitely leave them

Shoot I knew I buggered this up. Ha. I had the inline references formatted nicely (I think) in my Drafts. Then, I lost Internet connection. Good that you fixed it properly.

Ha! It's very easy to do... No worries at all. I just wasn't sure if you were aware of this particular formatting style or not. There's a lot of things to learn, if it's new to you.

Hi Bobby

Thank you for signing the Honor Code it is appreciated.  I notice that you have not added any green tags to your profile, tags do help you link into the community and to those who have an interest in the same surnames or countries.  You can have up to 20 tags, I would suggest you add your surname

FINCH

Also, add your mother and grandmother's maiden surnames as tags and a country of origin

To add tags go to  your tags

You can find more information about tags here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Tags.

Hope this helps you make the connections you are looking for

You are now a Family Member, Robert -- your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together! Start with the New Member How-To pages — they are really useful as you add profiles and learn your way around.

If you are new to genealogy -- no problem! Every genealogist is a beginner at some point and WikiTree is a collaborative site for people of all experience levels! Take your time, keep track of your sources, and ask questions. And take a look at these tips on recording your family history.

If you have any questions about how WikiTree works, use the reply link below to let me know. I am happy to help!

PS If you add your surname and other surnames you are researching to your tags, you can connect to other members researching those names. The more of these clickable tags you add (20 max.) that include surnames, locations, periods of history or other genealogical interests, the more connections you will make and maybe find a few cousins! To add tags, use this link. This page will help you learn more about tags.
