Joseph was born about 1818. He is understood to be the son of Gasper Fink and Catherine Miller. He married Jane Miller whose parents are Brice and C. Miller. In 1850, 1860 and 1870 Joseph and Jane are enumerated on the federal census in Greenbrier County, Virginia (later West Virginia).
