Biography
Gain Finlayson is a part of US Black heritage.
Gain was born about 1835. He was enslaved by John Finlayson (1810-1865) on Glendower Plantation in Jefferson County, Florida. Finlayson is being used as his last name at birth, until his actual name can be determined. The name Gain may be wrong as it is the best interpretation of old, difficult to read handwriting. The L usually denotes an abbreviation for "little," i.e. Little Gain.
