Biography

Sarah Finley was born in 1799.^[1] She is the daughter of George Finley and Mary Gaines.

She married Samuel Pennebaker and they had several children.

On November 5, 1842, Sarah married John Wiseman in Wilson County, Tennessee. ^[2]

Sarah Wiseman died in 1877.^[3]

Could 1799 be a typo? Foster Gaines Finley (see bible record) said Sarah G. Finley was born May 1st 1788. But maybe his recollection was bad and Janice's date of Jan. 12, 1799 is the correct one. Ah. Sarah G Finley was probably the second wife of O.G. Finley (O.G. was brother of Sarah m Pennebaker and father of F.G. Finley), and the profile representing that wife of O.G. (James-22749) does have her birth as 1 May 1788. (Note that other sources say she was born Sarah Johnson, not James, and was the sister of O.G.'s first wife, Mary Johnson.)

Support for 1799 appears to be from the 1870 census, which has Sallie Wiseman (71, born KY) in the household of Preston and Cassandra Hawks (daughter of Samuel Pennebaker and Sallie Finley).^[4]
