Biography

Mary was born about 1869 in Yorkshire, England.[1] She married George Stubley in Durham in 1888[2]

By the time her husband, George, had passed (1898), the family owned several confectioneries in the Wallsend area. Mary, however, seems to have been no businessperson; one by one, she sold off the businesses to fund her cost of living expenses. Eventually, the last of the confectioneries had been sold and she emigrated to Canada to live with her daughter Edith in Lloydminster, Sk. [3][4]

Mary passed away 15 Sep 1941. Her gravestone is in St. Luke's Anglican Cemetery in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, Canada.[5]
