Biography

Anthony "Tony" P. Fischer, age 85, of Red Wing, died Friday, April 29, at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. He was born Jan. 21, 1926, in Winona, to Charles and Anna (Procowitz) Fischer. He graduated from Winona Cotter in 1943. He married Lois Drexel on Nov. 23, 1946, in Winona.

He was the co-owner of Winona Metal Products for many years. They moved to Red Wing in 1968 when they purchased F & D Supply until 1991 when they sold it to their daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Todd Goodier. They also owned U-Pick Strawberry Patch in Red Wing. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and past member of the Winona Redman's Club and was active in Boy Scout troops. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Lois of Red Wing; three sons, Michael (Cavie), Thomas (Dawn), and Charles (Lynn) Fischer, all of Red Wing; daughter, Peggy (Todd) Goodier of Red Wing; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marian Thiewes of Belle Plain, Betty Klopatek and Elayne Fischer, both of Tamarac, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Anna Fischer; brother Carl Fischer; sister Gertrude Fischer; and grandson David Fischer.

Mass of Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, at the Church of St. Joseph with Father Thomas Kommers presiding. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing, and for 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Church of St. Joseph.
