Biography

Anna Fischer, the daughter of Martha Schmidt and Andrew Fischer, was born 5 Sep 1885 in Blue Island, Illinois.[1][2]

On 23 Aug 1907, Anna gave birth to Lois Alvina Amanda Fischer.[3]

On the 8 Dec 1915, she married Alfred Jensen.[4] Alfred was a widow with three children of his own.

Alfred and Anna raised their children to adulthood in Blue Island, Illinois.[5][6] Sometime between 1935 and 1940, Alfred and Anna moved to Chikaming Township, Berrien County, Michigan where Alfred tried his hand at farming again.[7] It is unknown how long they lived in Michigan, but they were back in Blue Island, Illinois by the time of Alfred's death in 1957.

Anna died 11 Feb 1959 and was buried in the First Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Alsip, Cook County, Illinois. [1]

Research Note

Anna's granddaughter's husband's (Norman Thomas Blansett's) database on Rootsweb says that Anna's maiden name was Schmidt and that Lois' biological father was someone with the surname Williams. There is another note there from someone tracing the Schmidt family which also says that Anna Fischer's maiden name is Schmidt. (See Norman Blansett, Blansett Family Tree (https://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=blansett_new&id=I4396 : accessed 2 May 2018).) If Anna's maiden name was Schmidt, then where did she get the surname Fischer and who is Williams? It seems more likely to me that perhaps Anna's mother's maiden name was Schmidt and two generations have been conflated. Then Anna could have had a father with the surname Fischer and someone named Williams might have been the biological father of the daughter she had before she married Alfred Jensen.
