Magdalene (Fischer) Horn has German Roots.

Magdalena Fischer, also known as Polly Fisher, daughter of Leonhardt Leonard Fischer, was born on 17 December 1799. [1]

Magdalena was married to Christian Horn. She was his second wife. She bore him three or four children: [2]

  1. Amanda Horn, 1832–1898;
  2. Mary Horn, 1821 - 1907; (contested: death certificate states Molly Hess was her mother, and Marys year of birth makes it impossible for her to have been a daughter of the second marriage.)
  3. Eliza Ann (Horn) Snyder, 1834–1914; [3]
  4. Maria (Horn) Culton, 1839–1910. [4]

Magdalena Polly Fischer Horn died on 11 July 1844 in Somerset, Pennsylvania, and was buried at Lehighton Cemetery in Carbon county, Pennsylvania. [5]

Research Notes: Magdalena Fischer's Parents and Offspring

Some Ancestry Family Trees show Magdalena Polly Fischer as the mother of Mary Ann (Horn) Haney, but Mary Ann (Horn) Haney's death certificate shows her mother's name as Molly Hess. Are Molly Hess and Magdalena Polly Fischer one and the same person? And, is Magdalena Polly Fischer truly the daughter of Leonhardt Fischer, or the daughter of another Leonard Fischer? This Magdalena Fischer was born in 1799 in Pennsylvania. But Leonhardt Fischer, his wife and all their children were born in Germany, and emigrated from Germany to America only after 1815, settling in Ohio. On page 309 of Historic Homes and Institutions and Genealogical and Personal Memoirs of the Lehigh Valley, published by the Lewis Publishing Company, 1905, New York, there is a short biography of Christian Horn, which affirms that he was married twice, that his first wife (Molly Hess? Catherine Davis?) bore him nine children, that his second wife Polly Fisher of Danville, Pennsylvania bore him four more children. Perhaps Molly Hess was the second of three wives, rather than the first of two wives ? However that may be, the date of Mary Horn's birth - 1821 - would definitely make her a child of an earlier marriage, rather than of a later marriage to Magdalena Polly Fischer. Which would mean that the two women are most likely not the same person; which is why i have created separate profiles for Molly Hess and Magdalena Polly Fis(c)her. Morever, several Public Trees show Catherine Davis as Christian Horn's first wife: she and Molly Hess might well be one and the same person. - 8 Nov 2017 Albertus
