The death occurred in her home at Pomona, after a lengthy illness, on February 20, of Mrs. Anna Catherine Mackenzie, wife of Mr. W. Mackenzie, a Pomona and district resident, at the age of 75 years. Deceased was born on the Clarence River (N.S.W.) , being a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. Fischer. Shortly after her marriage, some 31 years ago, she came with her husband to Skyring Creek, where the latter engaged in farming, later removing to Pomona, where they have lived for many years.
An enthusiastic horticulturist, cook, and needlewoman, the late Mrs. Mackenzie had been a successful exhibitor at North Coast Shows, and practically since the inception of the Pomona Methodist Ladies' Church Help Society was engaged in work in the interests of the Methodist Church.
Besides her husband, she leaves six brothers, Messrs. William, Henry, Lou. and Alfred (Clarence River), Ernest (Maroochy River) and Richard (Mullumbimby) , and three sisters, Mesdames O. G. Badcock (Kingaroy), J. Searle and G. Garrett (Clarence River). A brother, Mr. J. Fischer, and a sister, Mrs. F. Lange. predeceased her, the latter only recently.
