Biography

Timeline

1860 Sarah is 7 years old and living with her parents and nine of her siblings in Jefferson Township, Owen County, Indiana.[1]

1870 Sarah continues to live with her parents in Jefferson Township, Owen County, Indiana.[2]

1873 On 2 Feb at the age of 20, Sarah married George Washington Fiscus (son of John Adam (Jr.) & Elizabeth (Bowen) Fiscus).[3] Later this year on 27 November, George and Sarah's first child was born, a daughter they named Lurinda. .[4][5]

1878 Their son Adam Wilson is born on 5 August.[4]

1880 George, Sarah and their children, Lurinda (age 6) and Adam (age 2), are living in Jefferson Township. George's occupation is "farmer."[6]

1882 Their son Fred was born sometime this year. Records have not yet been found that show is exact date of birth.[4]

1887 Their son Benjamin is born on 10 May.[4]

1891 Their son Mathas Henry is born 17 March.[4]

1893 Benjamin passes away at age 6. Cause of death is not known.[4]

1894 Lurinda is married to William Day. George & Sarah are listed as the parents of the bride.[7]

1900 George and Sarah are still living in Jefferson Township. The census shows that Frederick (age 17) and "Henry M." (presumably, Mathas Henry) (age 9) are in the household. [8]

1914 Frederick is married to Clara Agnes Norris on 24 January. George & Sarah are listed as parents of the groom. The record shows that George's middle name is "Washington." Fred's residence is listed as Harlington, Nebraska.[9]

1916 George and Sarah are listed in the marriage record of their son Mathas and his new wife Sarah on 2 December.[10]

1910 George & Sarah continue to live in Jefferson Township. Mathas (age 19) is living with them.[11]

1920 George and Sarah are ages 69 and 66, respectively, and are still living in Jefferson Township, Owen County, Indiana. This census shows that Sarah's sister, Huldah Arney (age 71), is now living with them. Her husband, Lawrence, passed away in 1917.[12]

1930 After Mathas' wife, Mabel, passes away in 1927, he moves back in with George and Sarah.[13]

1932 George passes away at the age of 81. No exact date is given.[4][14]

1939 Sarah passes away at age 86 on 10 May.[4] She is buried in Dutch Bethel Cemetery, Freedom, Owen County, Indiana.[15]
