OPAL MARGARET LANDECK PORTER, IN Opal Margaret Landeck, 86, of Porter, IN, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2008 at the VNA Hospice Center. She was born February 20, 1922 in Paxton, IL the daughter of Frank and Lillie (Courson) Fiscus and graduated from Paxton High School. She had served as secretary for her church for many years and currently attended St. John's United Church in Chesterton. She took special joy gathering with her friends in their Hand & Foot Card Group and will be fondly remembered for her beautiful garden flowers. On May 30, 1941 in Buckley, IL Opal married Louis W. Landeck who preceded her in death in 2005. Survivors include their four children: Linda Long of Porter Beach, Lu Krieger- Blake (Brian Blake) of Valparaiso, Sheryl Summers (James) of Libertyville, IL and Bill Landeck (Eileen Ostrowski) of Cincinnati, OH; her special friend Rollie Good; two brothers: John (Kay) Fiscus of St. Joseph, IL and Robert (Sylvia) Fiscus of Loveland, CO; nine grandchildren: Alan Long (Kate Annie) of Santa Cruz, CA, Philip Long (Melanie Liu) of Palo Alto, CA, Gena Banta-Long, Wendy Banta-Long and Marita Banta-Long all of Porter Beach, Kevin Krieger (Dana) of Chesterton, Jim Summers (Elizabeth) of Raleigh, NC, Christopher Summers (Molly) of Valparaiso and Alysha Summers of Libertyville, IL; and two great grandchildren: Raphael and Waverly Long of Palo Alto, CA. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Wanda Dillon; and two brothers, Jerry and Harley Fiscus. Following cremation at Angelcrest Crematory, a memorial visitation will be held on Friday, November 28, 2008 from 9:00 - 11:00 AM at Valparaiso First Presbyterian Church, 3401 N. Valparaiso Street, with memorial service beginning at 11:00 AM. Rev. Katie Lindberg officiating.
