Johann was born in 1759
  • 1778-served under Capt.Henry Smith/Col. Francis Locke/ Gen. Rutheford-8 Months.
  • 1779-Joined Daniel Boone, Ky.Riflemen into Ohio With Gen. George Rogers Clarke.[1]
  • 1780-Discharged.
  • Feb. 1781-Joined Company of Nathaniel Green,and was at Battle of Guilford Courthouse (15 March 1781) against Gen. Cornwallis. Returned to Wilmington, N.C. Until battle of Yorktown (19 Oct. 1781).[2]
At age 22 he returned to Sury Co. N.C. where he met and married Elizabeth Spainhower.

He is memorialized on the Washington County Veterans Memorial in Salem, Washington County, Indiana, USA.[3]
