Biography

Mary Fish was born 18 Apr 1749 at Groton, Connecticut. She was the first child of Abigail Fish (1730-1790) and Jonathan Fish (1723-1796). [1]

She married 29 Feb 1776, Joseph Fish. Their children included:

  1. Polly Fish, born in Vermont; married David Burdick [Note: Uncertain that this person was a child of this family; a grave memorial site represents that Mary Hart (Fish) Burdick was born 19 Jan 1789 (6 years after Joseph Fish died), married Ezra Burdick (same person who married Patty Fish, below), and died 17 May 1858 [[1]]]
  2. John Fish (abt.1779-1853), b. 1779 in Vermont; married Hannah Brush; d. 29 Mar 1853
  3. James Fish (1783-1875), b. 23 Jun 1783; married Mary Wilcox; d. 17 Sep 1875
  4. Sally (Fish) Hill (1787-1871); married Tyler Hill; d. in Twinsburg, Ohio
  5. Joseph Fish; d. in New York State
  6. Martha (Fish) Burdick (1785-1827); married Ezra Burdick; d. in New York State
  7. Jane (Fish) Morgan (abt.1790-); married 1st Joshua Morgan; married 2nd Richard Goff; d. in Canada
  8. Phebe Fish; married Anthony Fish

Mary (Fish) Fish died 13 Oct 1824.

Her grave is in Packer Cemetery, West Mystic, New London County, Connecticut, USA [2]. Note: This online memorial presents an incorrect (unsubstantiated) birth date for this person. It also states that her mother was Phebe [sic Dennison], which is an error of precision. Phebe Denison was her step-mother.
