Andrew was born in 1840.
Parents: Perry Fish and Jane Smith
"MARRIED At the bride's residence, on the 9th inst., by E. Midlam, Esq., Mr. Andrew Fish, of Richland, to Miss Jennie Vanderhoof, of New Haven."[1]
"Andrew Fish. Co. E, 147th Regiment." From the chapter "Military Record of Richland" in the History of Oswego County.[2] NOTE: An Andrew W. Fish from another town in the county also fought in the Civil War and was killed in action in 1864.
He purchased land from Janette Nickerson, et al. for $100 in Mexico in August 1871.[3]
"NORTH MEXICO. Death has again entered our midst; this time an aged person has been taken. A lady named Tryon, who lived with Andrew Fish, died March 10th. The funeral was attended by quite anumber of persons, notwithstanding the storm. This is the third death in this school district inside of thirty days."[4] This would, in all probability, have been the aunt of either Andrew Fish or his wife Jane Van der Hoof, Hannah Tryon, wife of the late Levi Tryon. This accords with the death record for this lady.
He died in 1920; his funeral was held on 16 April 1920. "Frank King and family were in Mexico, Friday, to attend the funeral of Mrs. King's father, Andrew Fish."[5]"Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Fish, Harold Fish and Mrs. Howard Gulliver attended the funeral of Andrew Fish at Mexico last Friday."[6]"Mrs. Helen Ingersoll attended the funeral of her uncle, Andrew Fish, at Mexico on Friday."[7]
Thanks to Linda Remillard for information regarding the marriage.
