Biography

Elizabeth (or Elisabeth) Fish was a daughter of Elizabeth (Williams) Fish (abt.1690-1753) and Samuel Fish (abt.1684-1731), of Stonington, Connecticut [1],[2]. Her birth date is not certain.

She married 27 Nov 1735, Peter Rose (1707-1787). Their children included:

Elisabeth (Fish) Rose died 20 Feb 1794. Her grave is in Geer Cemetery, Griswold, New London County, Connecticut, USA [4]. The inscription on her grave stone (severely eroded, thus illegible from the depicted image) apparently reads "in ye 88 year of her age", thus indicating her birth year as 1706 or early 1707. A precise expression of the year would be 1706/07, accounting for the Julian/Gregorian calendar shift which affected all dates within the first 3 months of every year from 1582 until 1752 when the British adopted the Gregorian calendar.
