Biography

Abigail Fish, born 9 Aug 1760, was the fifth child of Hannah Forbush (-1796) and Elisha Fish (1720-abt.1795) of Upton, Massachusetts ^[1].

Abigail married in 1781 at Upton, Massachusetts, Elijah Warren (21 November 1758 – 12 October 1824 ^[2]), their intention being published on 6 March, followed by their marriage on 26 April ^[3].

Abigail Warren died 10 June 1835 at Canandaigua, New York. Her grave is in Pioneer Cemetery, Canandaigua, Ontario County, New York, USA ^[4]. The grave for her husband, Elijah Warren, is adjacent, marked by a stone with the same inscriptional motif and composition (marble) as for Abigail.

Notes

Identity of Abigail's husband, Capt. Elijah Warren, is not yet certain. He may have been descended from Jonas Warren via a son named Elijah. This is substantiated by a record from Upton, Massachusetts, page 1, listing Warren, Elijah, son of Elijah Warren, bapt. May 25, 1755 ^[5]. In the same record, page 2, appears Warren Eli F. son of Elijah IV. bapt. Sept. 12, 1790. Presumptions have been made that Eli F. (the 'F' possibly representing a middle name Forbes) was a son of Abigail (Fish) and Elijah Warren, however this is tenuous without corroborative evidence.

Also in this same record, page 2, appears Warren, Elish B, son of El. Warren bapt. July 20, 1788. Probably this was the husband of Hannah (Andrews), as described in a different F-A-G site, which we may hope is accurate ^[6]. He (Elisha) probably was not a child of this family.

The F-A-G site links the third child, Samuel Byington Warren, with William Warner (1745–1826) as his father, not Elijah Warren. Accuracy of these linkages is not supported with evidence, and perhaps some or all of these linkages constitute conflation of identities viz similarly sounding surnames. Probative investigation is in order, with responsibility focused upon the F-A-G profiles. Evidentiary documentation, particularly on the listed children, should be elevated likewise to relevant Wikitree profiles.
