Biography

Lawrence was born about 1746.

Lawrence Fish and Mary Holme were married by license on 29 Jul 1771 in All Hallows’, Bispham, Lancashire, England. The witnesses were Anthony Bond and William Butcher

Banns of marriage between Lawrence Fish of the parish of Bispham husbandman aged twenty one and Mary Holme of same parish spinster of full age were married in this church by license granted by the Revd. Mr Farner this twenty ninth day of July in the year one thousand seven hundred and seventy one by me Jno Armatriding Minster[1]

Their children were christened in Bispham with residence at Layton and included:

  1. William, christened 25 Jan 1778 with abode Gt. Layton[2]
  2. John, christened 2 Apr 1780[3]
  3. Thomas, christened 5 May 1782[4], buried 12 Apr 1796[5]
  4. Alice, christened 14 Aug 1785[6] married Henry Wright on 15 Dec 1805[7]
  5. Lawrence Fish (abt.1788-1850)
  6. Peter, christened 2 Oct 1791 with abode Warbreck[8], buried 13 Sep 1815[9]

On 26 Dec 1799 he was assessed for land tax at 0s 6 1/2d on property he was renting from B F Hesketh Esquire at Layton With Warbreck, Lancashire, England.[10]

He passed away in 1817 and was buried on 23 Jan 1817 at All Hallows, Bispham, Lancashire, England.[11] At the time of his death, he was working as a butcher and lived in Blackpool, Lancashire, England.

He left a Will in which he mentioned his wife Mary and his four surviving children William, John, Alice and Lawrence.

He may be the Lawrence Fish christened on 11 Feb 1745/6 at St Michael, St Michael's on Wyre, Lancashire, England with father James and abode Upper Rawcliffe, but corroborating sources should be found before attaching the father. [12]
