Biography

Elizabeth (Fisher) Rodney was born before 1742. She was the daughter of Jabez Fisher, who left her a bequest in his will dated Sept. 1742 and proved in December of that year.

She married Thomas Rodney 8 Apr 1771. [1][2] Thomas was a noted and well-connected person, younger brother of Caesar Rodney. For more information on his career and involvement with the new nation, please see his profile.

Elizabeth and her two sisters, Sarah and Margaret Fisher inherited property on Fishers Island at the death of her father. She and her husband sold the property to her cousins in 1773.

She and Thomas were the parents of Caesar Augustus Rodney( 1772-1824). Elizabeth died in 1783.

Whereas Jabez Maud Fisher died 13 September 1772 and bequeathed property to his three daughters Margaret Fisher, Sarah Fisher, and Elizabeth Fisher (now the wife of the said Thomas Rodney and party hereto) ; Margaret and Sarah died and Elizabeth has survived them and has become seized of the whole 400 acres.
