John Fisher was born in the fall of 1762 in Craignist Argyll, Scotland, the son of Archibald Fisher and Isobel McDougal Fisher. His christening took place on October 6, 1762. He died December 20, 1804 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky after getting into an altercation in a local tavern. He evidently made the mistake of turning his back on his advesary and was stabbed from behind. He cried out, "I am dirked!" and died soon after. He is reportedly buried at Old Pagan Cemetery, in Ellis Grove, Illinois. [1]
