Biography

Elizabeth Fisher was called 'Betsy' . Her headstone reads: " In memory of Elizabeth, loving wife of John Inglehart, born in Maryland A.D. 1798. Came to Canada with her father, Herman Fisher A.D. 1800, died July 20, 1870 in her 72nd year."[1]

If she was born on August 14, 1798, she was 71 years, 11 months and 6 days old when she died. (Inez Allen)

Elizabeth had a total of 10 children according to her obituary.(John and Elizabeth had three other children who died before 1870. (Arniece's notes))

INGLEHART, Mrs. Elizabeth was born in Maryland in 1798, came to Canada with her father, Mr. Fisher and with her future husband in 1800, and was converted at a camp meeting in Clinton age age 12,. In 1818, she married John Inglehart Sr. She died in Trafalgar, July 30, 1870, in her 72 year; predeceased by 4 children; survived by her husband, 6 children, and a number of grandchildren. The funeral was held in the Methodist Episcopal Chapel, Palermo.

Family papers say she was born August 14, 1798 and died July 30, 1870. (Inez Allen) Research by Hilda Stretton Inglehart and given to me by Wm. Albert Nathaniel Inglehart states that Elizabeth Fisher was born December 10, 1824 and died June 17,1859. Her birthdate may also be January 10, 1825 (Inez)
