Biography

Solomon was born about 17 Dec 1797 in Lincoln County, North Carolina. He was the son of Peter Fite and Anna Summers.

Solomon signed a bond for marriage to Fannie Wells on 6 May 1816 in Lincoln County.

State of North Carolina Gaston County | This Indenture made in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and Thirty | Two between Featherston Wells of the County of Lincoln in the State of North Carolina of the one part and Solomon Fite of the County of Lincoln and State aforesaid Witnesseth that that Sd Featherston Wells for and in consideration of five Hundred Dollars to him in hand paid by the said Solomon Fite the receipt and payment whereof the said Featherton Wells doth hereby acknowledge hath given granted and sold aliened and confirmed and by these Presents doth give grant bargain and sell alien and confirm unto the sd Solomon Fite his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract and parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of Lincoln on the East side of the South Fork of the Catawba River Joining Lands of William Fuill Armstrong Hoover & others containing 136 acres be the Samd me & hath such shape mark & boundaries as the annexed plat Represents this Rack Land being part of a Tract granted to John Turner 30th August 1755 as will appear of record & c & also all the woods ways wreta water courses with the appurtenances thereunto , or in any wise appertain in and all the State Right title claim interest property and demand whatsoever of him the said Featherston Wells in and to the aforesaid Lands and premises and every part thereof to have and to hold the aforesaid Lands and premises to the said Solomon Fite this heirs & ⌨ forever & the said Patent . Will premises agent herself and his heirs and against the same sale to a pine then South 31 West 126 poles to a post oak then South claims of all and every other person or persons whatsoever to the said Solomon Fite his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents in witness whereof the said Featherston Wills with hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day & year first above written

State of No Carolina Lincoln County | April Sessions 1833 The within Deed of conveyance was proved in open Court by the Oath of Enoch McNair : Recorded & ordered to be Registered Witness Vardry McBee ble This Indenture made this 22nd day of December in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred & Thirty two Between Benjamin Sewell Henry Fewell and Agness & B. Fewell his wife all of the District of York & State of south Carolina of the one part & Solomon Fite of the County of Lincoln in the State of North Carolina of the other part Witnesseth that the said Benjamin Fewell , Henry Fewell & Agness B. Fewell his wife for and in consideration of the sum of Four Hundred and Eighty ┃ Dollars to them in hand paid by the said Solomon Fite before the Signing & Sealing of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged , hath given granted , Bargained & sold alliened & Confirmed and by these presents doth give grant bargain & Sell alien and confirm unto the said Solomon Fite a certain Tract piece or parcel of Land situate , lying and being in the County of Lincoln in the State of No Carolina on the Waters of the Catawba River joining lands with Robert A. Ewing Heirs of Hugh being Decd McKees Armstrongs and the said Fitter own lands - Beginning at a Chesnut Robert A. Ewings Corner on sd Files own line & runs thence with Ewen = line North 48 East 120 poles to a Chesnut his corner and thence with his and Gingles line North 2 West 220 poles to a Pine Saml McKees Corner and thence with McKees and Beatey ' s line South 46 ½ West 249 poles to a Blackoak Beaties Corner on Armstrongs line and thence with Armstrongs and his own line South 47 East 150 poles to ┃ the Beginning containing 188 acres be the same more or less ; it being a part of a Tract of Land conveyed to the said Agness B. ┃ Sewell by Hugh Ewing Executor of the Estate of Robert Armstrong and also all the woods ways , water and water courses.


Lincoln County Nov . Session 1836 This Indenture made the 24th day of October in the year of said Lord 1836 Between Solomon Fite of the County of Simon and State of North Carolina of the one part and Robert Smith of the State and County aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Solomon File for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred dollars to him in hand paid by the said Robert Smith the receipt whereof the said Solomon Fite doth hereby acknowledged hath given granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth give grant bargain sell alien and confirm unto the said Robert Smith his heirs and assigns forever all that tract piece or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of Lincoln on the Waters of the Catawba River Bounded as follows viz Beginning at a pine Caldwells Corner and runs South 48 . West 1895 poles to a permory on said old line then S. 20 . North Carolina Lincoln County March Term 1848 The within Deed of Trust was acknowledged in open Court by the conveyor Recorded and ordered to be registered Witness H Cansler Co Received for Registration the 15th April 1838 . Wm J. Wilson Regr This Indenture made the 4th of July 1837 . Between Solomon Fite of the County of Lincoln & State of North Carolina of the one part and Cyrus Solon Caldwell of the other of the same County & State witnesseth that the said Solomon Fite for and inconsideration of the sum of one Thousand dollars to him in hand paid by the said Cyrus S. Caldwell the receipt whereof the said Solomon Fite doth hereby acknowledge hath given granted sold aliened & Confirmed and by these presents doth give grant bargain & Sell alien & Confirm unto the said Cyrus S. Caldwell his heirs & assigns forever a certain tract and parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of Lincoln on the East side of the Fork of the Catawba river Joining land of Robert Beatty James Armstrong Sarah Files John Smiths & others containing 244 acres be the same more or less and hath such marks & boundaries at the annexed plat represents this tract of Land being part of a tract granted to Agnes B. Armstrong from Hugh Ewing also from Matthew Armstrong to James Clinton as will appear on record And also all woods ways waters and water courses with the appurtenances Thereunto or in any wise appertaining and all the Estate right title interest properly & Demand whatsoever of him the said Solomon File in & to the aforesaid land and premises & every part thereof to have and to hold the same to the said Cyrus S. Caldwell his heirs & appears forever to the said Solomon Fite for himself and his heirs & against the claim or claims of all & every other person or persons whatsoever to the said Cyrus S. State of North Carolina Gaston County | This Deed made this 13th . day of October 1872 by James Quinn former Sheriff of Lincoln County in said State to F. S. Fite . Witnesseth that whereas about the year 1836 the said James Quiner as Sheriff of Lincoln County line upon and sold the lands of Solomon Fite, situate there in the County of Lincoln and now in the County of Gaston , for more particular description of which she ence is made to a deed from Benjamin , Henry and Agnes Fewell to said Solomon Fite bearing date 22d day of December 1832 , and convey one 208 acres ; and also to a Deed from Featherston Wills to said Solomon Fite bearing date 18 th January 1832 conveying 130 acres ; which said lands , less 100 acre , conveyed by said Solomon Fite to Robert Smith , were levied upon and sold by said Sheriff by virtue of proceeds there in his hands ; and Whereas said F. S. Fite became the last and highest bidder of said lands ; and whereas said James Quinn, these Sheriff of Lincoln did execute and deliver to said J. S. Fite a deed in fee simple to said described land, be the 100 acres as aforesaid; and the said F. S. The did pay the purchase liberated money in full; and whereas said Deed has been lost or destroyed by Solomon Fite Acquit of F S. Pite ; Now therefore this Deed Witnesseth that said James Quin former Sheriff of Lincoln County , in consideration of one dollar and the further above stated considerations hath bargained and sold and by these presents doth bargain and sell unto said F. S . Fite and his heirs all the right , interest , and estate of said Solomon Fite in and to said lands described above , and which was formerly conveyed to said F. S. Title by said James Quinn and which now lies in the present County of Gaston ; to have and to hold the same to said F. S. Fite and his heirs and to his and their only use and behoof .
