Biography

Lord William FitzRoy, 5th son of the 3rd Duke of Grafton, was an admiral in the Royal Navy, and married Georgiana Raikes in 1816.. Lady William FitzRoy was the sister of Harriet Raikes, who married Stratford Canning in the same year.

"Whitehall June 14 1815. His Royal Highness the Prince Regent, acting in the name and on behalf of His Majesty, has been graciously pleased to nominate and appoint the under-mentioned officers, belonging to his Majesty's naval and military forces, to be Companions of the Most Honourable Military Order of the Bath, in conformity with the ordinance relating to the third class of the said Order, as published in the London Gazette of the 2nd of January, 1815.........Captain Lord William FitzRoy.........."
