Biography

Florence Jane Fitzgerald (married name Mancha) was born in 1883 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, the daughter of Alice Eliza (Langhorne) Fitzgerald and James Fitzgerald.^[1]

She married Benjamin Mancha in 1906 in Sydney.^[2] Their children were:

• Lola Dorothy Mancha (1906–?)^[3]
• Ena Mary Mancha (1908–?)^[4]
• Stella Elizabeth Mancha (1911–?)^[5]
• Hilda Tracey Mancha (1915–?)^[6]
• Grace Florence Mancha (1922–?)^[7]

Wants To Become Australian Again

A woman, who was born In Sydney and lived here all' her life, has applied to the Government to become a naturalised Australian.She She is Mrs. Florence Mancha, of Furber Street, Centennial Park. "More than 30 years ago I married my husband, who was an American," said Mrs. Mancha last night. "He never bothered to become naturalised. and I had to accept his nationality. "When he was dying, a few months ago, he decided he would like to die an Australian.

"He signed the papers on his death bed. but they did not go through before he died.

"If I remain an American. I will be a neutral.

"But my children are Australian, and I want to be on their side.

"And I'll he able to get the widows' pension, too, if I am naturalised."^[8]

Florence Jane Mancha of 10 " Furbur Court," Furber-road, Centennial Park, New South Wales, was issued a certificate of naturalization in 1940.^[9]

Florence Jane Mancha, late of Epping, age 72, died 4 September 1955.^[10]
