Ellinor was the 2nd daughter of Sir John Fitzgerald of Dromana. Ellinor & James Butler had 10 sons (Walter, Thomas, Edmond, John, Pierce, James, Edward, Theobald, Gilbert, Richard) & 3 daughters (Ellen, Ellane, Ellice).[1]
Cracroft's Peerage indicates that "James Butler of Nodstown" was the husband of Eleanor Fitzgerald, who in turn was the daughter of Sir John FitzGerald, of Dromana, County Waterford, 7th Lord of Decies (d. before 26 May 1608) and Ellen FitzGibbon, of the White Knights of County Cork.
Her father-in-law Pierce Butler's funeral notice (see image) specifies that his son James was married to Eleanor, 2nd daughter of John FitzGerald of Dromana.[2]
By a family tree accepted by the Butler Society, Eleanor Fitzgerald died in 1648 in Ballynenoddagh, Co. Tipperary.
One of James and Ellinor's 10 sons was named James, but he is not the James "The Planter" Butler who settled in Massachusetts. This James has been disconnected as a son.
