The death occurred yesterday morning of Mr. John Fitzgerald, at the residence of his brother-in-law, Mr. Jas. St. Ledger, Diggers Arms Hotel, Tinana. Deceased was born in Glenough, County Tipperary, Ireland. He landed in Maryborough with his parents from the sailing ship 'The Star Queen' in 1875, and had resided here ever since. He worked for a number of years in Sim 's sawmill, and later was employed in the Railway Department, 10 years being spent in Pialba, he being acting-ganger there. He retired from the Railway Department 12 months ago owing to ill health. The late Mr. Fitzgerald was a man of broad-minded views. He was extremely popular, and his death will be keenly felt by his sorrowing relatives and a wide circle of friends. He was also one of the oldest members of the H.A.C.B. Society. Deceased is survived by three sisters and one brother, namely, Mesdames J. Walsh and J. St, Ledger (Maryborough) and M. Dunn (Bundaberg), and Mr. J. Fitzgerald (Childers). The funeral will take place this morning at 11 o'clock from the Diggers' Arms Hotel.
