Biography
Alice was born in 1759. She was the daughter of John and Alice (Thornton) Fitzhugh.
In 1779, in Port Royal, she married Harry Dixon, son of Captain Edward and Sarah Dixon. Sarah was the daughter of Thomas Turner and Sarah Taliaferro, prominent Virginia families.
Harry passed away a few years later, leaving her with three very young children.
In 1784 she remarried John Burkett Pratt. Their children were:
- Alice Fitzhugh (Pratt) Turner
- Caroline Matilda (Pratt) Turner
- John Pratt
- Maria (Pratt) Robb
- Thomas Pratt
- Harriet (Pratt) Yerby
According to John Pratt's will:
- Written: 22 Feb 1842
- Probated: 6 Feb 1843
- Wife: Alice
- Sons: John, Thomas
- Daughters: Maria (Patrick C. Robb), Harriet (Thomas Yerby), Alice, Caroline Matilda (Turner) dec’d[1]
Alice passed away in 1845[2].
