Mary Anne Flanagan was born in 1866 in Clooncor, Tulsk[1]. She was the daughter of Michael Flanagan and Mary McGarry.
Mary Anne married James Higgins of Aughnaderry on 11 Feb 1901[2]. The witnesses were Thomas Higgins and Bridget Rushe.
James and Mary Anne lived in Cloonerra, Cloonfinlough, in a small three roomed house with a thatched roof. His sister Kate lived with them in the early years of their marriage. They had a stable, cow house and piggery[3]. They had six children[4].
