Theodore Flanagan was born on 1 Feb 1890 in Erie, Colorado. He was the son of Timothy Flanagan and Catherine Donnelly. His father was from County Roscommon, Ireland and his mother from Wisconsin. As a child, he was called Thadeus.

In 1900, Thadeus (10) lived in South Erie Town, Weld, with his parents Timothy (49) and Catherine (44) and his brothers Joseph (16), John (14) and Bernard (6). His father was a section foreman in the coal mines. Thadeus attended school nearby^[1].

His brother Joseph moved to Missouri to live with their cousins, the Held's. When he became an adult, Thadeus went by "Ted". By 1910, Ted (20) was a coal miner and lived with John (23), a labourer, and Bernard (15). Their parents did not appear on their census record but John recorded each of them as sons of the "head of household"^[2].

Ted (24) married Mary Gladys Van Tilborg (19) on 24 Dec 1914 in Victor, Teller, Colorado. She was originally from Nebraska^[3].

America joined World War I in 1917. Ted (27) was registered for the draft. He lived at 211 South 1st Street in Victor, Colorado and was a coal miner for Bear Mines. He was tall with a medium build, dark brown hair and blue eyes^[4].

Ted and his family left Colorado for Wyoming circa 1921 before settling in Arizona. In 1930, Ted (40), Gladys (34), Timothy (13), Dolores (11), Mary G (8) and Theodore Jr (4) lived at 430 South Montezuma Street in Prescott, Yavapai, Arizona. He was a circulation manager for a newspaper^[5].

In 1940, Ted (50) lived in Yavapai with Gladys (44) and Theodore Jr (14). He was a salesman for an electricity company^[6].

Ted Flanagan died on 19 Aug 1965 in Arizona, aged seventy five years old^[7]. He was buried in Mountain View Cemetery^[8].
