Mathias was the son of Eilev and Tone (Holte) Flathus. Mathias was baptized 29 September 1912 at the Sauherad Church.
Mathias married Kari Olsdatter Tveiten. They lived at the farm Flathus.
Mathias died in 1991 at the age of 79.
