DNA Confirmation Statement

  • Paternal relationship is confirmed through Y-chromosome DNA testing. Jerry Boyd Fleming, Relative Genetics kit #88573, and his 1st cousin once removed James Edward Fleming, Relative Genetics kit #87401 son of Roosevelt Fleming, match at a Genetic Distance of 1 on 46 markers thereby confirming their direct paternal lines back to their MRCA James Alexander Fleming 1818. TMRCA calculation indicates that the probability the two share a common ancestor approximately 95% within the last 11.7 generations.
  • Paternal relationship is confirmed through Y-chromosome DNA testing. Jerry Boyd Fleming, Relative Genetics kit #62084, and his second cousin once removed Glen Richard Fleming Relative Genetics kit #73092, match at a Genetic Distance of 0 on 46 markers thereby confirming their direct paternal lines back to their MRCA James Alexander Fleming 1818 GA. TMRCA calculation indicates that the probability the two share a common ancestor approximately 95% within the last 7.4 generations.

DNA

Jerry Boyd Fleming was recruited into the (discontinued) Relative Genetics Fleming yDNA study by John Calvin Fleming, Jr.. He is a direct patrilineal descendant of James Alexander Fleming 1818 GA. He tested as haplogroup E3b (now E-M215). He also tested as a 42/43 marker match for two other patrilineal descendants of James Alexander Fleming 1818 GA through two different sons. They are James Edward Fleming, son of John Arthur Fleming, and Glen Richard Fleming. All three subjects are recorded as second cousins to each other and James Alexander Fleming 1818 GA is calculated as their most recent common ancestor.

Though James Alexander Fleming 1818 GA functioned in every way as a member of the James Fleming 1760 MD family, his three patrilineal descendants, through three different sons; none of which matched descendants of James Fleming 1760 MD, nor any other Fleming line, as indicated above. But, they did match each other. It is assumed that James Alexander Fleming 1818 GA was adopted into the James Fleming 1760 MD family.
