Raymond Anton Fleming, Relative Genetics kit #9526, and his 6th cousin, Anonymous11 Fleming, Relative Genetics kit #99879 grandson of Jesse Fleming, match at a Genetic Distance of 1 on 46 markers thereby confirming their direct paternal lines back to their MRCA Samuel Fleming 1718. TMRCA calculation indicates that the probability the two share a common ancestor approximately 95% within the last 11.7 generations.
  • Paternal relationship is confirmed through Y-chromosome DNA testing. Raymond Anton Fleming participated in the (now discontinued) Relative Genetics yDNA study. He was a 42/43 match to Anonymous11 Fleming, grandson of Jesse Fleming. Both are direct descendants of Samuel Fleming 1718 through two different sons. They were 41/43 and 42/43 matches to John Calvin Fleming, Jr., respectively. Anonymous12 Fleming, son of John Fleming, also matched with John Calvin Fleming, Jr. 63/67 in the FTDNA yDNA study. He is also a direct male descendant of Samuel Fleming 1718 through his son, John Fleming. All were haplogroup R-M269.

Raymond Anton Fleming and Anonymous12 Fleming, son of John Fleming are fifth cousins once removed. Anonymous11 Fleming, grandson of Jesse Fleming and Anonymous2 Fleming, son of John Fleming are calculated to be first cousins once removed. John Marion Fleming is determined to be the most recent common ancestor for Anonymous11 Fleming, grandson of Jesse Fleming and Anonymous12 Fleming, son of John Fleming. Samuel Fleming 1718 is determined to be the most recent common ancestor for Raymond Anton Fleming and Anonymous11 Fleming, grandson of Jesse Fleming. Therefore Samuel Fleming 1718 is confirmed as a common ancestor for all three subjects tested.

Therefore, from a scientific standpoint, John Calvin Fleming, Jr is closely related to James Fleming 1760 MD who is also a documented ancestor by historical records. John Calvin Fleming, Jr is also closely related to descendants of the following men, proving they share a common male ancestor at some point in recent history, likely after or just before immigration to America during the period of 1650 to 1750: John Fleming 1776 NC, John Fleming 1671 Ireland, John Fleming 1790 NC, and Samuel Fleming 1718 (probable, but not verified).
