Biography

This profile is part of the Hanborough, Oxfordshire One Place Study.

Birth

David was baptised at St Peter and St Paul, Hanborough on 2nd March 1823.[1] He was the son of Robert Fletcher and Ann James. His father stated on the register that he was a labourer.

Marriage

David Fletcher and Jane Woodward were married after banns on 21st October 1844 at St Peter and St Paul, Hanborough.[2] They were batchelor and spinster and both of the parish. David was a labourer and the son of Robert who he stated was a farmer (he was actually an agricultural labourer). Jane was a minor and working as a gloveress. All that was given on the register regarding her father was that he was deceased. Neither David nor Jane could write so they both made their mark on the register with a cross. The witnesses to the marriage were David Cox and Ansella Woodward.[3]
