Benjamin was born in Chelmsford, Mass., on Aug. 8, 1716.[1] He first married Bethiah Herrick on June 29, 1744[2] They had five children. Bethiah died in 1772 at the age of 49[3]
Benjamin received a commission as a captain, and commanded of a troop of horse soldiers stationed at Townsend, Mass.
Benjamin's second wife was Elizabeth Symmes, widow of Capt. Caleb Symmes, and daughter of Reverend Willard Hall, the first pastor in Westford. Benjamin and Elizabeth were married on Feb. 9, 1779.[4]
Capt. Benjamin died on Jan. 25, 1789.[5] He and Bethiah are buried in the east cemetery in Westford.
