Biography

Hugh was born in 1862. He was the only child of Francis Leighton Fletcher and his first wife, Martha Ann Chamberlain; his mother passed away just a few months after his 4th birthday. He had one half-sister, Lena Helen Fletcher, daughter of Francis Leighton Fletcher and his second wife, Helen Tower. In the early 1930s, Hugh and his wife Ida moved to Oxford, Maine, where they lived until Ida's death in 1938. While living in Maine, the couple were visited each summer by their son Francis and his family at their cabin on a lake. Following the passing of his wife, Hugh went to live with his son Francis and his family for a while before returning to Maine. He passed away in 1945 and is buried in Maine with his wife.
