Biography

Solomon was a Farmer foremost, who left his wife and family in MO while he traveled to CA during the Gold Rush in 1848. He did well enough at gold mining he was able to return to MO; packed up his family, wife and 5 small children, and migrated to (then) Kaufman county, Rockwall, Texas in 2 covered wagons and purchased approx. 700acres of land for he and his children. He was a Mason in Rockwall County and served in the U.S. Civil War Calvary. He and Ellen his wife were members of the New Hope Baptist Church 1852 (First Baptist Church of Rockwall, Texas). He and his wife were pioneers of Rockwall County, Texas. Buried in the Rockwall City Cemetery (Old Part) - Rockwall Memorial Cemetery. I had the pleasure of visiting my GG Grandfather's grave in 2000 and have original photos of Fletcher family headstones
