One newspaper article tells part of the story of Bishop Joseph Simeon Flipper's life. He was born into slavery and his former owner was Ephraim G. Ponder. Joseph was born on the "Ponder Place". On some records of he and his siblings, he was listed as "B" for Black, and on others as "M" for Mulatto. Another tree lists his birth place as Thomasville, Thomas, Georgia. [2]
