Biography

Ireland Native
Richard Flood was born in Ireland.
Richard was born in 1795 in Galway, Ireland.[1] According to another source, he was born in Cork, Ireland, the son of John Flood.[2]

He entered Trinity College, Dublin, in 1814, earning his B.A. in 1820 and his M.A. in 1832. Shortly after graduating, he trained to become a Church of England priest. He followed Rev. Benjamin Cronyn to Canada in 1833, first settling in Perth, Upper Canada (Ontario), then in Caradoc Township where he was a missionary to the Munsee-Delaware Nation.[3][4]

He married Frances Mary Blake, daughter of Rev. Dominic Edward Blake, in 1834. They had ten children, six sons and four daughters, and lived in Delaware Village in the 1850s. [5]

He died in 1865 and was buried at Woodland Cemetery, London, Ontario.[6]

Is there anything to show where in Galway Richard FLOOD was from?
posted by Wheels Flood
Hello. Your Flood ancestor was from Galway and so were these Floods who emigrated to Australia around 1845. A few from one extended family came out.

Would you be interested in having a look? I wonder if there is a connection?
