2019 Oct Source-a-Thon

The Foundation for Medieval Genealogy has a chapter dedicated to the Vandals and Visigoths in Spain ^[1] that is highly informative but which clearly states that it lacks primary sources to back the family trees it is referring to. The male figures have been located in other places, not so the principal women, such as Flora (wife of Godigisel), Elisa (wife of his son, Gunderic) and Eurica (wife of his grandson, Gelimer).

The three women appear in WT without sources in Oct 2019; the FMG source has been added to them in the 2019 Oct S-a-T. Note that where the "Category: European Aristocrats, Unsourced" was used before, it has been replaced with the "EuroAristo Sticker", but other activities needed in the profiles have not been carried out at this time. Eight profiles were located, two for Flora, three for Elisa and three for Eurica, that should be merged. This will be addressed after the 2019 Oct S-a-T.

Flora Unknown (Flora of the Vandals)

Flora is cited in the FMG as the wife of Godigisel and mother of Gunderic. She was not the mother of Genseric who was Gunderic's half-brother by his father's concubine, whose name is not known. In Royaume Europe, she appears under the name Frilla Habbra of the Alans, born around 355. ^[2]

In this profile, Flora appears correctly with her son, Gunderic, Vandals-51.

Her names have been confused with those of Gunderic's wife Elisa (Elisa "de Granada"), and her First and Preferred names should be "Flora", with no middle name. Her LNAB & CLN should both be "Unknown". If the "of the Vandals" is considered necessary, it should go in the Other Nicknames field, and in any case, the "Granada Flora" that appears removed. A decision should be made about her dates, 0371-0420, are in consonance with her husband's but one sources gives abt 0355 for her birth. The places, however, should be removed (birth: Granada, Spain, death: Germany), as there is no evidence that either is correct. She should be linked to Godigisel, Of_the_Hasdingi_Vandals-1, as his wife. Her son Gunderic, Vandals-51, is correct. Note that this is the file that should remain after the merger below.

In this profile, Unknown appears with her husband, Godeguslus, Vandals-4, who is being merged into Godigisel, Of_the_Hasdingi_Vandals-1.
