CATHERINE FLORA BROOKS JOHNSON PIERSON

CATHERINE "Cathern" FLORA was the daughter of ARCHIBALD "Arch" FLORA and SARAH KROFT.

She was the 5th of 6 children. Her siblings were:

SARAH

ARCHIBALD S. and

SAMUEL FLORA.

CATHERINE "Cathern" (FLORA) BROOKS JOHNSON PIERSON

She first married the Union Army Veteran of the Civil War who served in the 38th Indiana Inf, Co. I., WILLIAM JACOBI BROOKS on February 14, 1865, in Wabash, Indiana. It was William's second marriage.

About 1872 Cathern and the farmer William were divorced. Records suggest that after the divorce William married one more time and he fathered additional children.

CATHERINE married a second time on October 9, 1879, in Grant County, Indiana to ENOS R. JOHNSON Sr. Grant County, Indiana marriage records show her as "CATHARINE" BROOKS.

Per the 1880 U.S. Fed Census her stepchildren as result of her marriage to Enos R. Johnson were: ENOS R. JOHNSON Jr and GEORGE WILLIAM JOHNSON. This Census also shows that the children she brought into the marriage were: SARAH C., NANCY E., WILLIAM, GEORGE ARCHIBALD and SAMUEL BENJAMIN McCRILLUS BROOKS.

After ENOS died in 1911, Catherine married a third time on September 6, 1923, in Grant County, Indiana to BENJAMIN E. PIERSON. The Grant County marriage records show her as CATHERINE FLORA JOHNSON.

BENJAMIN "Ben", (husband #3), son of GEORGE PIERSON, was born on June 29, 1848, and died on December 9, 1928. He is also buried in the Tinkle Cemetery in Van Buren, Grant County, Indiana. A search for his grave marker in November 2012 determined that he is resting in an unmarked grave.
