Elva Flores Hernandez, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, born January 10, 1925, passed away February 22, 2011 at the age of 86 with her family by her side.
She is preceded in death by her husband Cruz Hernandez, daughter Victoria Rendon and son Cruz Flores Hernandez, Junior.
She is survived by her daughters Julia, Vangie (and Robert) and sons Raul Hernandez (and Margie) and Armando Hernandez (and Nancy), daughter-in-law Olivia Hernandez, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was an active member of the San Juan de los Lagos Senior Citizens Center for many years and a member of the Guadalupanas.
Visitation will be held at Castillo Mission Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 from 1:00 to 9:00 pm. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, March 3, 2011 at San Juan de los Lagos Church at 9:30 am with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Services under the direction of Castillo Mission Funeral Home.
Our family would like to give special thanks to Vitas Innovative Hospice Care and to Martha who tended to our mother with great care and kindness as well as to all the other members of the team. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vitas Innovative Hospice Care in Elva Hernandez's name.
