Biography

GARBER - Ada May, daughter of David and Leah (Frantz) Flory, was born near Camden, Preble County, Ohio, October 28, 1877. She passed from the scenes of time November 26, 1963, at her home having reached the mature age of 86 years and 29 days. She was the last of her family.

October 28, 1897, she was united in marriage to George G. Garber, with whom she joyed and sorrowed for over 64 years. They established their home in the Wolf Creek district. This union was blessed with 5 sons and 4 daughters, 8 of whom survive. Her husband and son, David, preceded her in death.

At about 16 years of age she chose "that good part" and became a member of the Old German Baptist Church, to which she remained steadfastly faithful until the end. In August, 1924, she with her husband were chosen to serve the Church in the office of deacon, which she ably performed as long as strength permitted. Realizing the uncertainty of life, she called for the elders and was anointed with oil.

The children remaining to "sorrow not as those who have no hope" are: Cecel Flora, Oscar J. Garber, Leah Denlinger, Cora Wolf, Elmer D. Garber, Raymond H. Garber, Earl J. Garber, and Myrtle Strike, together with 34 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.

"She lived to serve."

Funeral services, conducted at Wolf Creek on Friday, November 29, by Brother J. W. Miller and the home brethren, were attended by a large crowd of sympathizing friends, after which her mortal remains were laid to rest in Eversole Cemetery.
