Biography

STAMY - Sarah J., daughter of Daniel and Sarah (Kimmel) Flory, was born December 2, 1867 near Auburn, Sangamon County, Illinois, and departed this life at the Doctor's Convalescent Hospital, Whittier, California, April 4, 1962, at the age of 94 years, 4 months, and 2 days.

On February 20, 1890, she was united in marriage to Solomon S. Stamy, who passed away in July, 1956. To this union were born 5 children; 3 daughters preceded her to the Spirit world at an early age. She is survived by 2 children: Nellie R. Driver and Daniel W. Stamy; 11 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and many relatives and sympathizing friends.

Early in her married life, she, with her companion united with the Old German Baptist Church, in which faith she passed to her eternal reward.

Her early life was spent on an Illinois farm. In 1904 the family moved to Whittier, California, which remained her place of residence until God called her home. Thus comes to a close a long and active life that speaks for itself, and we feel assured that our loss in her eternal gain.

Funeral services were conducted April 6, at 2:30 p.m., in the White-Emerson County Chapel by Elders Orlando Blickenstaff and John Fisher. Burial was made in Rose Hills Memorial Park.
