He was born to John Floyd (1800-1867) & Nancy Lilly Floyd (1805-1876), both of North Carolina. They are buried in Mississippi.
Edmund married 1) Emeline Maness (1838-1872) on Jan. 11, 1857, in Union County, NC. She died at age 34. Edmund was a private in the Tennessee infantry, CSA, during the Civil War. He was honorably discharged in 1863 due to disability.
He married 2) Mary Elizabeth Dodds Roberson (1847-1943) on Feb. 14, 1873, in Henderson County, TN. This was a second marriage for both. They had no children together, but he helped rear her children from a prior marriage. Mary & Edmund moved to Comanche County, TX, in December 1884. After Edmund died, Mary moved to Lubbock, TX, in 1926.
