Abraham was the son of Nimrod and Mahala Keller Floyd. His father died in 1856 in Tennessee and two years later his mother moved with her ten children to Dent County, MO. They settled on a farm near the Zion community. Abraham never married. He and his sister Oma lived with their mother until her death and continued to live together on the farm after her death.
